The film as a medium workshop aimed to experiment with the different layers of making a film {script, cinematography, sound, light, editing, casting} as intertwined together instead of separated. The other side of this workshop aimed at experimental film making.
There is a claim that the experimental method leads to results that are too conceptual and exclusive. Which is a valid claim in cases that get to define what is “experimental” in a global market governed by western ideals. However there are ways to be guided by experience and intuition (and not too distracted by final results) that lead to clear and touching outcomes.
Throughout the workshop, the participants went on a journey to discovering themes of the position of a filmmaker, the context of production, creating their own methods, questions as feelings/intuitions, the root of the story, real problems/unimportant problems, temporality of a film and optimal pasts/optimal futures.
